
Dorados to play at Obra Homes Field

Hidalgo, Texas --- With their first game less than a month away, preparations are underway for the Rio Grande Valley Dorados as new head coach Marty Hammond gets things in place for the indoor football team's third af2 season. The team's training camp schedule and location has been set, the first game of the season has been moved a day, and the club will play its' home games at a "new" field.
Obra Homes has signed on with the team as the title sponsor of the field. Accordingly, all Dorados games for the 2006 season will take place at Obra Homes Field at Dodge Arena. Dodge Arena staff has been busy readying signage and painting the Obra Homes logo on the field, and recently raised the east end zone goal frames to the rafters. Obra Homes has established itself as the number one homebuilder in the Rio Grande Valley, building over 1000 homes annually.
Hidalgo High School will be the site of training camp, which begins with players reporting to Hidalgo on Saturday, March 11. Players will undergo physicals on Sunday, March 12 with the first on-field action taking place Monday, March 13 at 4:30 p.m. Camp will conclude on Sunday, March 26, when final cuts take place at 7 a.m.
The team will practice twice a day at 10:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., with exceptions being March 19 (4:30 p.m. only), and March 21-23 (10:00 a.m. only). The Dorados will scrimmage only at 10:00 a.m. on March 24, and will take March 25 off as the coaching staff prepares to make cuts on March 26. There will also be a special teams practice at 4:00 p.m. on March 26.
Once the final roster is determined, the team will practice at 10:00 a.m. from March 27-30, and then fly out of McAllen to Fresno on March 31 as they get set to face the Central Valley Coyotes on April 1 at 9:30 p.m. Central Time. That game was originally scheduled for March 31 and has been moved forward a day.
