October 5, 2020 - Coastal Plain League (Coastal Plain)
Wilson Tobs News Release

Wilson, N.C. - Donta Lewis announced Monday that after almost (3) seasons with the Wilson Tobs as the Director of Operations & Sales, he will be leaving to start a new position within the Wayne County School Systems as the Behavior Specialist/ISS Coordinator. Even with the acceptance of another position this will not be the last time the Tobs see Lewis, as he expressed interest in staying involved with the organization through multiple community events such as Super Splash Days, Faith & Family Nights, Youth Camps, and some other programs he has spent years improving for the organization.

Lewis is a local Carolinian born and raised in Goldsboro, NC and has spent most of his life living in Wayne County. His familiarity with the Wilson Tobs organization began in 2015 when he accepted a summer internship position as a Manager of Stadium Operations. After his time at the Tobs, Lewis joined the operations staff of the Texas Rangers Organization in 2016 under two minor league teams, the Hickory Crawdads and Down East Wood Ducks. Before joining the minor league teams, Lewis held multiple positions at the Goldsboro YMCA in management, manager at Hibbett Sports, and Goldsboro Parks & Recreation all specializing in youth community health programs.

Lewis is a well-respected member of his community because of his love for people and his local community. He is actively involved in his church as a life group leader to Juniors, Seniors and College Aged individuals. Each year he reaches out to others by participating in mission trips and being heavily involved in outreach programs. Lewis is a dual school graduate from East Carolina University (ECU) and Lenoir Community College (LCC). While at LCC he received his Associate in Arts degree with a concentration in Physical Education. Donta also received a bachelor's degree in Sports Studies and minor in Business Administration while at ECU.

Donta prides himself on mentoring kids in his community and is passionate about his family and profession. He states, "Mentoring kids has moved my professional setting goals to becoming a Behavior Specialist Coordinator. My vision has brought me to building a relationship with kids in need, listening to his or her story, evaluating the goals set for their future, and most importantly asking themselves what they see themselves doing 5 years from now." Lewis talks about his life mission being to thrive in a professional setting, learning the importance of proper service while promoting healthy activities, and ensuring public safety for all.

There is no doubt that Donta has a bright future ahead of him and will positively impact the lives of many as he continues his professional and personal career. Tobs General Manager Mike Bell summed up how much Lewis meant to the Tobs organization by stating, "Donta will always hold a special place within the Tobs organization. The knowledge and love he has for the Tobs is hard to match and replace. During every Tobs game it was like everyone who walked in the ballpark had a personal relationship with him. His ability to interact with fans and show them the love and support they deserved is what separates him from anyone else. There are many reasons he will be missed but none more than not seeing my friend at the ballpark every day". This will not be the last time fans will see Donta for he has already marked his calendar during the summer so he can catch multiple Tobs games. Lewis may not be part of the Tobs staff anymore but he will always be part of the Tobs family.
