
Don Murdoch Joins the Parrots

St. Petersburg Parrots CEO, William Coffey, today announced that Don Murdoch, has joined the new Atlantic Coast Hockey League franchise as Vice President and Director of Corporate Sales. Murdoch, 45, will also assume the role as the team's Governor and will have minority ownership in the Parrots which will begin play this October at the Bayfront Arena.
Don Murdoch is best known to the hockey fans of the Tampa - St. Pete area as the former Head Scout for the Tampa Bay Lightning of the National Hockey League. The native of Cranbrook, British Columbia also played six seasons in the NHL with the New York Rangers, Edmonton Oilers, and Detroit Red Wings. His NHL career included 320 games, 121 goals, and 116 assists.
Murdoch's duties will include overseeing the corporate sales activity for the Parrots, as well as, corporate ticket sales. "We are very happy that Don Murdoch has decided to join the Parrots organization," William Coffey said. "The fact that Don lives in the area and certainly knows the hockey and corporate community will be a major asset to the Parrots organization."
The St. Pete Parrots are a member of the new Atlantic Coast Hockey League which begins play this October. The "original six" franchises are, in addition to the Parrots, the Orlando Seals; Jacksonville Barracudas; Macon Trax; Knoxville Ice Bears; and Cape Fear (Fayetteville, NC) Fire Antz. The St. Pete Parrots open their inaugural season on October 18th in Macon. The Parrots home opener is Saturday, October 19th @ 7:30PM against Jacksonville.
