Brandon, Manitoba -- The Western Hockey League's Brandon Wheat Kings are pleased to announce that Don Lair of Brandon is year's winner in The Home Depot Backyard Rink Contest.

Lair was chosen Saturday from over two hundred entries received at Fan Services (during Wheat Kings' home games), at Brandon's Home Depot or online at www.wheatkings.com. For winning, members of the Wheat Kings will be visiting Lair's backyard rink, located south of Brandon early next month.

The announcement was made during Saturday night's WHL game at Westman Place between the Wheat Kings and visiting Saskatoon Blades.

This week's Backyard scrimmage closes out a busy week for the Wheat Kings, who in addition to closing out a 3-game homestand, have hosted their annual Rogers Fan Camp and closed out this year's CIBC Read to Succeed Program with visits to both Holland School and Kirkcaldy Heights School in Brandon.

Brandon opens up a 2-game road trip Tuesday night in Saskatoon, before travelling to Prince Albert on Wednesday. The Wheat Kings next home game is Friday, March 6th against the visiting Moose Jaw Warriors.
