COLONIE – The Diamond Dogs fell to the New Jersey Jackals tonight, 5-0 in front of 2092 people. The Jackals scored all their runs in the top of the second inning. In addition, an error by shortstop Miguel Vilorio made all five runs unearned.

With one out, Jackals' centerfielder Travis Bailey singled to center. Dogs' starter Jason Von Haefen then picked off Bailey. But, in the ensuing rundown, Vilorio threw the ball into the Dogs' dugout behind first base, letting Bailey advance all the way to third.

After a walk to Dave Callahan, Billy Brown singled Bailey in. After a wild pitch and a groundout, former Dog Dave Grice signed to right field, scoring both Callahan and Brown. Chas Terni drove in the final two runs of the inning with a double to center field.

The two teams will play the rubber game of their three game set tomorrow night at 7:05 p.m. It's also Homer's Birthday. The team will have fireworks after the game to help its mascot celebrate.
