
Dodgers Jason Schmidt to pitch for 66ers

San Bernardino, CA - The Los Angeles Dodgers have announced that starting pitcher Jason Schmidt will take the hill for the Inland Empire 66ers in San Bernardino on Wednesday. The scheduled game time is one of three 11 a.m. early start contests at Arrowhead Credit Union Park.
Schmidt is recovering from shoulder inflammation. There was no structural damage discovered therefore surgery was not required. The Dodgers placed Schmidt on the disabled list on April 17th. This is the fifth time he has been disabled with a shoulder injury in his career.
The right-handed pitcher last threw for Los Angeles on April 14th against San Diego where he lasted just two inning allowing six runs, five earned, while surrendering seven hits and striking out two.
This will be the third Major League Baseball player to suit up for Inland Empire this season. Infielder Rafael Furcal and pitcher Yhency Brazoban have both played for the 66ers in 2007.
Schmidt's last minor league appearance came in the California League as a member of the San Francisco Giants in 2004. He pitched five scoreless innings for the San Jose Giants while punching out seven batters.
