Vero Beach Devil Rays News Release

(Vero Beach, FL) - Blake DeWitt led a 5-home run attack for the Vero Beach Dodgers Monday night en route to an 11-1 shellacking of the Jupiter Hammerheads at Holman Stadium. DeWitt hit two and Anthony Raglani launched a 3-run shot to help him to a 5-RBI night. The series continues Tuesday night at 7:00 PM.

DeWitt's first home run came with one out in the first inning. Raglani hit his 3-run shot in the third. That hit broke an 0-15 slump since being reassigned to Vero from AA-Jacksonville and it opened up a 5-1 lead for the Dodgers.

That is all starting pitcher Blake Johnson (4-3) would need. The righthander from Baton Rouge, LA turned in seven innings of work for the fifth time this year. He struck out a season-high 10 batters and allowed just four hits with no walks.

The final three home runs for the Dodgers came in succession in the 8th. Jamie Hoffmann led off the inning with a towering shot that cleared the scoreboard in left for his 4th of the season. Xavier Paul followed with a rainbow bomb to right, his team-high 7th of the year. DeWitt then capped the trifecta with his 2nd of the game and 6th of the season.

Monday's win gave the Dodgers a 3-game winning streak for the third time this year. Vero Beach has yet to win four in a row. The victory gave the team a 26-40 1st Half record that includes 18 one-run losses. The 2nd Half begins Thursday at Daytona.
