Dodgers Clinch East Division Title

(Vero Beach, FL) - Completing a turn-around that saw them go from 15-22 to the best record in the Florida State League, the Vero Beach Dodgers clinched the 2nd half East Division Championship with a 3-1 win over the St. Lucie Mets.

RHP Rich Bartlett completed two perfect innings of relief work by striking out SS Corey Ragsdale to end the game and seal the victory. LHP Matt Merricks earned the win by going five-plus innings, allowing no earned runs. The Dodgers had RBI singles by CF Alex Requena, SS Tony Abreu and 2B Delwyn Young to earn the win.

Following the remaining four regular season games, the Dodgers will begin the playoffs at home, taking on the Daytona Cubs on September 7th at Holman Stadium. The Dodgers and St. Lucie Mets play the finale of their season series Wednesday night as the Dodgers aim to claim the Treasure Coast Cup outright. Vero Beach leads the season series 8-7 entering the 7:00 PM start at Holman Stadium.
