Dock Spiders Offense Explodes for 13-8 Win over Battle Creek

FOND DU LAC, WI - The Fond du Lac Dock Spiders (18-12) had an offensive explosion in a 13-8 win over the Battle Creek (14-16). There were 28 hits combined and Fondy had 15 of them for a season high.

The scoring started early on for the Dock Spiders who grabbed four runs in the 1st inning. One of the runs would be sent in off the bat of Alex Erro(Northwestern) who would also end up scoring later on off of a passed ball. Andrew Bullock(Western Carolina) had a 2 RBI single batting in the 7th spot capping off the four run inning for Fondy. They would also add on one run which would increase the lead to 5 which would hold until the 4th inning.

In the bottom of the 4th inning the Spiders would tack on one more run making the lead 6-0 after a runner was walked in. Battle Creek responded after the inning and picked up 3 runs of their own to decrease the deficit to 3 runs in the 5th inning.

In the bottom of the 5th frame is when Fond du Lac would take control. Alex Erro(Northwestern) with 2 outs belted one into the outfield for a 3 RBI double which made the lead 9-3. One batter to follow, Sam Cohen(UC Santa Barbara) picked up a double of his own and sent home Erro for the 10th run of the ball game.

Braden Stutzman(Oregon) got a base hit in the 8th and then would eventually end up scoring a run. Cole Zabowksi(Ole Miss) the third batter of the 8th inning absoutely nuked one over the left field fence for a two run shot.

Jacob Adams (Ole Miss) 2 for 3 with 1 RBI

Cole Zabowksi (Ole Miss) 2 for 5 with 2 runs and 3 RBI

Mitch Boe (Iowa) 2 for 3 with 1 RBI

Jack Wassel (Minnesota) 2 for 4 with 2 runs
