Wachusett Dirt Dawgs News Release
TORRINGTON, CT. (Thursday, July 4, 2013) After last nights disheartening one-run loss to the Torrington Titans, the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs gave the Titans (9-12) a taste of their own medicine, earning a 5-4 victory on Independence Day.
Leading the way for Wachusett (6-13) was Michael Yerina (SCSU) who pitched five scoreless innings in relief, allowing only two hits and striking out three.
Yerina's shutdown pitching not only gave him the win (1-1) on the night, but it also allowed the Dirt Dawgs's offense to rally in order to tie the game in the sixth, and finally get the go-ahead run in the eighth.
Offensively for the Dawgs, four players - Richard Fecteau (Salem St.), Nate Pajka (Bates), Todd Ezold (UMass Boston), and Alex Paradowski (Wofford) - led the way with two hits each.
Austin Sistrunk (Lipscomb) and Paradowski were responsible for Wachusett's two RBIs on the evening.
The Dirt Dawgs return home tomorrow to take on the North Shore Navigators. First Pitch at Doyle Field is at 6:35 PM.
The Wachusett Dirt Dawgs play at historic, and newly renovated, Doyle Field in Leominster, MA and are a 2012 expansion franchise in the Futures Collegiate Baseball League. The 2013 season swings into action on June 5th. Season Ticket, Flex-Game Packages, and sponsorship information is available by contacting the Dirt Dawgs at 978-965-4404 or at info@dirtdawgsball.com.
