Pittsfield Suns News Release

The Pittsfield Suns (9-11) started off hot against the first place Nashua Silver Knights (13-5) but in the end fell 11- 6.

With the largest crowed in Suns history, at 4,775, the team was looking as if nothing could stop the team from winning tonight's game. The first four runs of the game were sent across by a hot hitting Suns team that sent eight men to the plate during a four run second inning. Kyle Singleton led off the inning with a long triple that one hopped the fence at 403 feet away. Singleton was brought home two pitches later on a Steve Dill RBI single. Frank Crinella hit a bases clearing double that plated the Suns next three runs.

The Suns could not hold the lead though, giving up five runs in the top of the third and trailing for the rest of the game. The Suns did cut the lead to 7-6 after a two-out, two-run home run off the bat of Luke Reynolds. The Suns and Silver Knights then played scoreless seventh and eighth innings before the Silver Knights put the game away with four runs in the top of the ninth. The Suns next play Friday July 5th against the Old Orchard Beach Raging Tide (9-11) at Wahconah Park.
