Old Orchard Beach Raging Tide News Release

OLD ORCHARD BEACH, ME- The Old Orchard Beach Raging Tide (10-11) defeated the Seacoast Mavericks (9-12), 7-1 on Thursday night at The Ballpark.

The Tide responded to the Mavs first inning run with four of their own in the bottom half of the inning. Skip Flanagan (Framingham, MA/Rochester IT) led off with a single to right center, then later scored on a bases loaded walk. Two more runs came in on wild pitches, then a single by CJ Picerni (Oak Park, CA/Cal Lutheran) plated home Dylan Begin (St. Albans, VT/UMass) from third.

OOB added runs in the runs in the second, third, and seventh innings to extend their lead and pull the game out of reach.

The away side would threaten in the top of seventh, as they had the bases loaded on a hit by pitch and two walks, however relief pitcher Michael Franzese (Anaheim Hills, CA/Golden West) was able to get out of the jam unscathed.

Nick Whittaker (Yarmouth, ME/Saint Joseph's) got the victory after tossing six innings, giving up one earned run, while striking out three.

Ty Sterner (Worcester, MA/URI) was charged with the loss for Seacoast after tossing two innings and giving up six runs.

Picerni led the Tide offense going 3-4 with one RBI on the night.

The Raging Tide return to action tomorrow as they travel to Pittsfield to take on the Suns at 7pm.
