Dirt Dawgs Announce All-Star Participants

LEOMINSTER, Mass. - The Dirt Dawgs are excited to announce that outfielder Jamill Moquete from Umass Boston, infielder Josh Raymond from Judson University, pitcher Michael Yerina from Southern Connecticut State University, and outfielder Derek Lowe from the College of William and Mary, who is injured and unfortunately will not be able to play, have made the 2013 FCBL All-Star Team, which is being held at Wahconah Park in Pittsfield, MA at 7:10 p.m. Thursday, July 25. The Wachusett Dirt Dawgs players will be on Team Massachusetts that will be coached by the current manager of the Martha's Vineyard Sharks, Mike Miller.

Jamill Moquete is currently going into his senior year at Umass Boston. He currently has seven home runs so far this season, 29 RBI's and out of 116 at bats, has only had 19 strike outs. Josh Raymond is going into his senior year at Judson University in Illinois. Josh Raymond has had an incredible season with 5 home runs 23 RBI's and out of 116 at bats Josh has only stuck out 11 times. Michael Yerina, a sophomore at Southern Connecticut State University has been a key pitcher for the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs this season. In eleven appearances Michael has a 2.82 ERA only walking 4 batters and striking out 29.

Derek Lowe a junior attending the College of William and Mary in Virginia is a clutch player for the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs both offensively and defensively making some outstanding plays. Derek has had 1 home run and 10 RBI's. Derek will not be able to play in the All-Star game due to injury.

"We are excited to see four players from the Dirt Dawgs selected to the FCBL All-Star team," said Scott Lettre, Director of Baseball Operations, "And we hope our great fans can help get us a fifth player in with the fan vote!"

The fan vote this year features Dirt Dawgs pitcher, Nick Filloramo from Wheaton College. He will be against four other players to make the 25th and final spot on the roster. Voting is held on the FCBL website at, www.thefuturesleague.com.

For the 2013 All-Star game, the teams are the Massachusetts All-Stars versus the New England All-Stars. The Massachusetts All-Stars have players from the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs, North Shore Navigators, Brockton Rox, Martha's Vineyard Sharks, and the Pittsfield Suns. The New England All-Stars have players from the Old Orchard Beach Raging Tide, Seacoast Mavericks, Nashua Silver Knights, and the Torrington Titans.
