
Director of sales and marketing, team name unveiled in Lincoln

(Lincoln, NE) - The All American Professional Basketball League announced today that Matt Starr, has been named Director of Sales and Marketing for the team in Lincoln, Nebraska. The league also announced that the team would be called the Lincoln Generals.
"Today's announcements are exciting steps to be taking in putting a something tangible into the community of Lincoln," said AAPBL President Worth Christie. "We're happy to be able to bring Matt to our league." "He has a good background in the industry and we have no doubt that he will give us the effort we need to make this work in Lincoln."
"I'm very excited to join the AAPBL," said Starr. "It's an honor for me to be a part of this and an honor for the city of Lincoln." "Every team that has come to Lincoln has received very good support and we're going to work to make sure that is the case with this team." Starr went on to say, "I don't see this as a question of if we're going to sell out any games but how many games we will sell out."
Starr, a Wayne State University Graduate has worked in minor league sports for several years, most recently as Director of Marketing with USA Olympic Committee-Roller Sports. His background also includes work in a variety of capacities with Lincoln's indoor football teams, the Lightning and later the Capitols where he served as Assistant General Manager. Additionally, the league announced that the team in Lincoln would be known as the "Generals". League Director of Operations, Brad Pick said, "In all of our cities we want to identify a significant connection with the community." "Playing in Pershing Auditorium, named after General Pershing, was a great tie-in for this team and will allow us to do some entertaining things for our fans."
