
Wichita becomes eighth All American Professional Basketball League Team

(Wichita, KS)- Wyoming businessman, Worth Christie announced that Wichita, Kansas will become the eight member of the All-American Professional Basketball League. Prior to today's announcement the AAPBL, with its league office in Casper, Wyoming had introduced teams in Casper, Billings, Butte and Great Falls, Montana, Pueblo, Colorado as well as Lincoln, Nebraska and Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Set to tip-off their inaugural season in November , 2005 the league will include 10 to 12 teams and a slate of 56 regular season games at a minimum. The Wichita club will play in the Kansas Coliseum. The league will conclude its regular season in March with playoffs to be concluded in early April, 2006.
"We are very excited to be able to add Wichita to the AAPBL," said Christie. "Wichita will be the largest market in our league, it's a great basketball area, obviously and we're looking forward to becoming a part of this community."
Additionally, Christie announced the team would be named the Wichita Bombers, in reference to the history Wichita has with the construction of airplanes. "The name refers to the history of the community, which is something we wanted to do with all of our team names." said Christie. "The name will also allow us to do very entertaining things that our fans will enjoy."
Fans of the AAPBL will be treated to a high level of professional basketball and exciting promotional events that will leave each fan entertained win or lose and wanting to come to the next home game.
All AAPBL teams will be managed by the league office for the first two years of the leagues existence with an office and full staff in each of the league's cities. The league is currently discussing local ownership in each of the teams cities. After the first two years of league play local ownership will take over their team's operation.
