Colorado Mammoth News Release
The Colorado Mammoth have signed goaltender Dillon Ward to a four year contract extension.
The former 1st round selection of the Mammoth in the 2013 NLL Entry Draft (third overall) has been a staple in the net for the Mammoth since his selection. Ward was named to the 2014 All-Rookie Team as well as a two-time NLL All-Pro Second Team (2016, 2018), 2017 NLL All-Pro First Team and 2017 NLL Goaltender of the Year.
Ward has been a model of consistency as the Mammoth goaltender, playing over 900 minutes in each of the past three seasons while being on the only team in the NLL to hold opponents under 200 goals for each of those three seasons.
"This is an exciting day for the Colorado Mammoth organization." Said Assistant General Manager, Brad Self. "Dillon is our franchise player and is not only one of the top goalies but is already one of the top players in our league. He's only 28 years old and will only continue to get better. We couldn't be happier to have him in a Mammoth jersey for another 4 years."
The Orangeville, Ontario native in the 2018-19 season had the fourth lowest goals allowed average by goalies with at least 300 minutes played at 10.84. In two playoff games last season, Ward played some of his best lacrosse, holding powerhouse Saskatchewan to 10 goals in the overtime victory in the West Division Semifinal in Saskatchewan. His 2019 Playoff stats ended with 124 minutes played, one win, one loss, 18 goals allowed (8.70 GAA) and a 0.833 save percentage.
ÃÂ "I'm excited to re-sign with the Mammoth. The organization has been nothing but first class over my 6 years here. I'm ready to get back to work and bring championships to our passionate and deserving fans" said Ward.
Ward added to his accolades while playing for Gold Medal winning Team Canada at the World Indoor Lacrosse Championships in Vancouver this past summer.
The Mammoth kickoff the 2019-20 NLL Season on Friday, November 29 at 7:30PM MT versus the Saskatchewan Rush at Pepsi Center for the 3rd annual Teddy Bear Toss at the Loud House. Tickets can be purchased at AltitudeTickets.com.
