
Bandits Ink Byrne to One-Year Deal

BUFFALO, N.Y. - The Buffalo Bandits today announced the team has signed forward Josh Byrne to a one-year deal, pending league approval.
Byrne (6'3", 200 lbs., 4/15/1994) finished his sophomore season with the Bandits recording 42 points (13+29) in nine games, setting a single-game career high with eight points (1+7) in the season opener at Philadelphia. In in his 26th game with the Bandits on April 20 vs. New England he became the second-fastest player in franchise history to reach the 100-point milestone, trailing only John Tavares who did so in 16 games. He added 10 points (3+7) in four playoff games with Buffalo, which tied for fourth on the team and ninth in the NLL in postseason scoring.
The New Westminster, British Columbia native has posted 105 points (39+66) in 27 career games after being selected by the Bandits with the first-overall pick in the 2017 NLL Entry Draft. He had a record-setting rookie campaign that saw him earn an NLL Rookie of the Year nomination after leading all NLL rookies in assists (37) and points (63) and ranking second in goals (26). His 37 assists and 63 points during the 2017-18 season are the most ever recorded by a Bandits rookie.
Prior to turning pro, Byrne played two seasons of collegiate lacrosse at Hofstra University, totaling 111 points (71+40) in 29 games and leading the Pride in goals, assists and points in each of his two years. He scored 41 goals during his senior season, the ninth-most in program history, and earned CAA Player of the Year, First-Team All-CAA and Third-Team All-American honors.
