Amarillo Dillas News Release

AMARILLO, TX - There is No Off-Season for Hunger and the Amarillo Dillas know how important it is to build a better community. The Amarillo Dillas Baseball Club announced today the renewal of their partnership with the High Plains Food Bank to "Strike Out Hunger" in Amarillo and the surrounding communities that make up the Panhandle. "We (Dillas) have the unique ability to form partnerships with organizations, such as High Plains Food Bank, so they can help the less fortunate in Amarillo", Dillas General Manager Mark Lee said. "Our goal is to help create awareness in the community that hunger is not relative to the time of year or a holiday season and that folks understand that there is no off-season for hunger". The "Strike Out Hunger" campaign includes every regular season home game and ends with the final regular season home game on August 27th. Dillas' fans can help people who are in need by making donations to the High Plains Food Bank when they bring at least four cans of food to any home game. In exchange for food donations fans will receive a free General Admission ticket to that night's game. Donations can be made at the Ticket Windows located just inside the Amarillo National Bank Dilla Villa on game days only. The Dillas concluded their first home stand of the year with a sweep of the Edinburg Roadrunners resulting in a record of 7-1 for the first eight home games of the season. Amarillo will enjoy an off day today before the club travels south to Laredo and Coastal Bend for eight games and return home on Thursday, July 2nd. The Amarillo Dillas Baseball Club is a charter member of United League Baseball, a Professional Independent League, with six teams playing in Texas. ULB teams are located in Amarillo, Coastal Bend, Edinburg, Harlingen, Laredo, and San Angelo.
