
Dillas one pitch away but fall 10-8 on walkoff

SAN ANGELO, TX - The Amarillo Dillas were one pitch away from winning the United League Baseball Championship Series but a walkoff three-run homer from Nick Mahin gave the San Angelo Colts a 10-8 win in game four to tie the series 2-2 for a decisive game five at Foster Field in front of 1,137.
Dillas reliever Albert Ayala (2-1) got the loss, giving up the homer in the ninth. Colts reliever Jameson Maj (1-0) pitched a perfect ninth inning for the win.
Amarillo took an early lead as Keanon Simon led off with a double and scored on a Stantrel Smith RBI single for a one-run lead. The Dillas added two more in the second as Trent Lockwood and Eric Brown led off with singles and scored on a Justin Wenger sacrifice fly and a Simon RBI single. An RBI triple by Angel Reyes added another in the third for a 4-0 lead.
The Colts scored five runs in the fifth to take a lead, but the Dillas responded with four in the sixth, capped off with a two-run RBI double from Smith for an 8-5 lead.
San Angelo continued to chip away at the lead with a run in the sixth and seventh, but Coby Mavroulis finished off the sixth and seventh innings to keep the Dillas on top 8-7.
In the ninth, the Colts Brian Frichter started the inning by reaching on an error by Ayala. After a Selwyn Langaigne flyout, Jason Landreth walked to put runners on first and second. John Anderson flew out to deep center to move Frichter to third, but Mahin stepped in and powered a 2-2 pitch over the left field wall for a walkoff homerun to give the Colts a 10-8 win and even the series 2-2.
With the loss, the Dillas and Colts are tied 2-2 in the United League Championship. The final and deciding game of the United League season will be played at Foster Field at 7:05 pm with Dillas Pregame set to begin at 6:50pm on AudioSportsOnline.net. Game time is tentative and subject to blackout.
