Dillas Host Laredo Tonight to Begin Eight-Game Home Stand

AMARILLO, TX - The Amarillo Dillas welcome the Laredo Broncos today for a four-game series to begin an eight-game home stand. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday's game will begin at 7:05pm with Sunday's match-up starting at 6:05pm. The Dillas then host the United League's league leading San Angelo Colts on the last leg of the home stand which begins on Monday, July 27 and concludes on Thursday, July 30. The post-season will consist of the top four teams moving on to championship play therefore, the upcoming eight-gamer proves vital to the Dillas opportunities to gain ground on first place while testing their resolve against the leagues' best.
As the halfway point of the season nears the Dillas are on pace to set another United League attendance record however, their ability to win on the road has been a growing concern for manager Brady Bogart. After a short trip to Coastal Bend producing just one win in the four-game series the Dillas are very much in need of some home cooking. The Amarillo squad has managed just six wins on the road but boast the second-best home record, only behind San Angelo (18-6), at 15-5 going into tonight's contest.
"There is no doubt that Amarillo is a special baseball town and our fans expect us (Dillas) to play hard for nine innings and that can be appreciated", Dillas Manager Brady Bogart said. "If there was a way to put the faithful on a bus and take them on the road, I think we'd all be in favor of that happening".
Tonight's game marks the start of the Dillas three remaining home stands all of which comprise of eight games leaving just twenty-four games to be played during the regular season. SPECIAL EVENT
Monday, July 27 and Tuesday, July 28 - 2009 Summer Youth Baseball Camp Youth between the ages of 7 and 14 will have the opportunity to receive instruction from Dillas' coaches and players on the fundamentals of hitting, pitching, catching, and fielding.
Registration/Check-In begins both days at 8:30am with camp instruction beginning at 9:00am. Cost for the two-day camp is $40 or $25 to attend one of the sessions. Pre-registration is available by phone or visiting the Dillas Front Offices located at 801 South Polk Street. Walk-up registration is welcomed.
The Amarillo Dillas Baseball Club is a charter member of United League Baseball, a Professional Independent League, with six teams playing in Texas. ULB teams are located in Amarillo, Coastal Bend, Edinburg, Harlingen, Laredo, and San Angelo.
