Amarillo Dillas News Release
AMARILLO, TX- The Amarillo Dillas Baseball Club announced this morning that in conjunction with Bluebonnet Concessions they will hold their annual job fair for the 2010 season. Additionally, the club announced they have reached terms with RHP Zachary Cole who becomes the thirteenth new player to join the Dillas.
Every year the Dillas and Bluebonnet Concessions host a job fair to fill seasonal positions for concession and game day employees. This year's event will take place this Saturday May 15th at the Amarillo National Bank Dilla Villa starting at 9am. The Dillas will be accepting applications to fill game day positions including ticket sellers, ticket takers, souvenirs, and ground crew staff. The Dillas' concessionaire, Bluebonnet Concessions, will be accepting to fill several positions including cooks, food prep, cashiers, hockers, and runners. All positions are seasonal beginning approximately two weeks prior to the season opener and last through the regular season and any potential post season contests. All jobs are perfect for anyone looking for a summer of fun while making some additional spending money.
Interest applicants will need to bring a copy of their valid Driver's License and Social Security Card as part of the application process. Applicants that are hired for game day baseball positions will receive a flat game day rate and concession workers receive an hourly pay rate based upon assigned position. Applicants who are brought on-board by either group are expected to be available to work for each of the 48 home games including the post season which can be up to five games. The Amarillo Dillas Baseball Club, LLC and Bluebonnet Concessions, LLC are equal opportunity employers.
In unrelated news, the Dillas added another arm to their pitching staff with the signing of 6'4 197-pound right-hander Zachary Cole. A native of Crystal River, Florida, Cole originally signed as an undrafted free agent with the Baltimore Orioles in 2007 where he spent one season in their chain pitching in the Gulf Coast League. As a rookie, he appeared in 9 games posting a record of 0-0 with 2 saves and a 5.84 earned run average in 12.1 innings of relief work. He was released by Baltimore following the 2007 season and signed with Traverse City Beach Bums of the Frontier League where he relieved in 6 games posting a record of 0-0 with an earned run average of 10.13, in just 5.1 innings of work out of the bullpen.
Cole was actually slated to join the Dillas last year but he services were not available due to sustaining a season-ending injury to his pitching hand. Although he hasn't pitched in well over a year in a competitive setting Dillas manager Brady Bogart doesn't lend much to it but is confident that his abilities will remain unchanged. "Zach has fully recovered from his injuries that kept him out last season", Bogart said. "We expect him to show up for camp in-shape and ready to compete for a spot in the bullpen, likewise I don't put much stock into his numbers from 2008 because he is a capable reliever who can help us in the late innings".
ULB Opening Day 2010 is Thursday, May 27 when the Dillas travel to San Angelo for a two-game series against the Colts. The reigning United League Champions will open their home schedule Saturday, May 29, when the Colts follow the Dillas back to Amarillo to play a four-game series. Season tickets are still available and single-game tickets are available for purchase in-person or over the phone by visiting the Dillas Front Offices at 801 South Polk Street in downtown Amarillo or by calling (806) 342-0400. VISA and MasterCard accepted.
