Digz Edwards named player of the week

MESA, ARIZONA -The Golden Baseball League announced today that Mesa Miners second baseman Digz Edwards was named Arizona Division player of the week.
This will be the second straight week that a Miner's player has received this award as Caleb Maher won it in week one.Å¡ Leadoff hitter Edwards led the GBL in batting average and hits for the week going 14 for 24 for an astonishing .583 average over 6 games. In addition, he scored 5 runs and drove in 6 while racking up an on-base percentage of .593.
Other honors include Yuma Scorpion's pitcher/coach Rusty Meacham who was named Arizona Division pitcher of the week, and Long Beach Armada's second baseman Jeff LaRue along with Chico Outlaw's pitcher Mike Gits were winners in the California Division.
