Bradenton Marauders News Release
Bradenton, Fla. - The Marauders (4-3, 39-33) and the Clearwater Threshers (5-2, 49-23) met for the fourth game of a six-game series at LECOM park on a sunny Saturday evening in the Friendly City. With solid pitching and clutch hitting, the Young Buccos were able to snap a three-game losing streak by way of a 6-3 victory.
Bradenton starter Derek Diamond was the story of the night pitching-wise for the Marauders as the right-hander tossed six shutout innings while allowing just four baserunners. Diamond earned his team-leading 6th win of the season for his exemplary work on the hill.
The game's first runs came in the bottom of the third inning when Jesus Castillo, Shalin Polanco, and Termarr Johnson all picked up an RBI to shoot the home side out to a 3-0 lead a third of the way through the contest.
Bradenton tallied a run in each of the middle innings, with RBI honors being handed out to Francisco Acuna and Shalin Polanco, with the third run scoring via an error on an infield pop fly.
With the Marauders ahead 6-0, they turned to Ryan Harbin out of the bullpen; the right-hander tossed two perfect innings while striking out five to send the game to the ninth inning with the Young Bucs well in front.
Clearwater did not go down without a fight as they scored three runs in the ninth and even managed to bring the go-ahead run to the plate before Elijah Birdsong came out of the pen to shut the door by forcing a groundball to seal the 6-3 win for the Marauders.
Game five of the series is scheduled for Noon on Sunday, with Wilber Dotel set as the expected starter for Bradenton.
