Diamond Jaxx pitching staff surrenders 12 runs in loss

(Jackson, TN) June 27th- The Tennessee Smokies continued their awesome display of offense on Friday night as they doubled up the Diamond Jaxx 12-6 before a crowd of 3330 at Pringles Park. The Smokies have won six in a row while the Diamond Jaxx have dropped a season high six straight games.

Sam Fuld and Nate Spears had three hits and two RBI's each to help lead a twenty hit attack. Matt Craig chipped in with two hits and three RBI's. One of the hits was Craig's 20th career home run at Pringles Park. Over the first four games of this series, Tennessee has scored forty-one runs on sixty-one hits.

Rocky Roquet got the win in relief of Donnie Veal, who couldn't pitch the five innings minimum needed by a starter to get a win. Roquet (2-1) allowed no runs on a hit with two walks and two strikeouts in 1 1/3 innings of work.

Ryan Ketchner suffered the loss for the Diamond Jaxx, dropping his record to 6-4 on the season. Ketchner allowed a season high nine runs on thirteen hits in five innings of work. Greg Halman and Adam Moore clubbed two run homers while Mike Wilson drove in the other two runs in a six run Jaxx attack. Luis Valbuena had his fifteen game hit streak snapped, going 0-4.

Game five of the six game series is set for Saturday night at 7:05 CDT. Lefty Justin Thomas (5-5 4.32) is scheduled to start for the Diamond Jaxx. Tennessee will go with right-hander Alex Maestri, who makes his Double-A debut.
