Chattanooga Lookouts News Release

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - The Lookouts gave a sellout crowd at AT&T Field a great game but ultimately came up short in a 7-6 finish against the West Tennessee Diamond Jaxx in Thursday night action.

West Tennessee got off to a hot start by scoring three runs in the first inning. A Johan Limonta three-run homer accounted for the damage.

The Lookouts entered the scoreboard in the first. After loading the bases, Sean Henry worked a walk to plate a run.

An Eric Eymann solo shot in the bottom portion of the third tightened the score, 3-2.

Chattanooga took the lead in the fifth by scoring three runs of their own. Singles by Henry and Justin Turner began the inning, and an Eric Eymann triple cleared the bases. Thomas Collaro followed with a sacrifice fly to right, giving the Lookouts a 5-3 lead.

The Lookouts' lead would turn out to be nothing but a fleeting moment, as West Tennessee scored two runs in the sixth inning on a Jon Nelson two-run shot and two more runs in the seventh on a two-run blast by Gregory Halman.

Chattanooga scored one more run in the seventh on a Chris Valaika RBI single, but that would be the last fruitful rally produced by Chattanooga on the evening.

Roman Martinez (2-0) was credited with the win for the Diamond Jaxx by throwing 1.1 innings of relief.

Shawn Kelly did not relinquish a run in the final 2.2 innings to earn his third save of the season.

Mike Hrynio (2-1) took the loss for the Lookouts, yielding four runs in 1.1 innings of relief.

Chattanooga hits the road to play a four-game series against the Mississippi Braves, tomorrow. The Lookouts will return to AT&T Field on Tuesday, July 8th to play a five-game homestand against the Huntsville Stars. Tickets for these games or any other Lookouts home game can be purchased at the Lookouts Box Office at AT&T Field, online at www.lookouts.com, or by calling (423) 267-4849.
