ALBANY, NY - The Albany Devils were defeated by the Rochester Americans 2-1 Sunday at Times Union Center. The Devils outshot the Amerks 28 to 17 but their record moves to 35-30-2-3. Rochester improves to 29-38-0-2.
John Quenneville opened up the scoring at 5:05 of the first period in his first game back after being assigned to New Jersey. This was his 13th goal of the season. Carter Camper registered his 24th assist on the goal, and Jacob MacDonald was credited with the secondary assist.
Paul Geiger answered for the Americans at 14:32 of the first to make it a 1-1 game. Derek Grant then gave them the lead at 3:14 of the second period in the first half of a Devils' double-minor penalty.
Mackenzie Blackwood made his 30th start of the year, stopping 15 of 17 shots. Jonas Johansson registered 27 saves on 28 shots for the Americans.
The Devils take on the Syracuse Crunch Wednesday at Times Union Center. Puck drop is at 7 pm.
