Development League Draft To Be Held On November 1

(Bakersfield, Calif., Oct. 25, 2007) - The Bakersfield Jam, members of the NBA Development League, today announced the team will participate in this year's D-League draft at Tailgaters, located at 900 Truxtun Avenue. The draft will be televised live on NBA TV via conference call on Thursday, November 1, beginning at 5 p.m. and fans are invited to join the team and watch as the Jam's 2007-2008 roster unfolds.
"The draft plays a pivotal role to our on-court success and we look forward to Jam fans joining us in this unique process," says Michael Hirsch, team president, Bakersfield Jam. "Coach Harrick and Coach Rooks will unveil our picks as they happen, making those in attendance the first to know what the '07-'08 team will look like."
The Jam have two of the top 16 picks in the draft (13th and 16th) in the 14-team league. Players selected will participate in training camp, which begins the second week of November, along with allocation players, players assigned to the team from the Jam's affiliates, Golden State and Sacramento, and any players the team chooses to bring in from the club's open tryouts held this past weekend.
Television sets at Tailgaters will be tuned into the live coverage of the draft on NBA TV, with pre-draft coverage at beginning at 5 pm. Marty Blake, the NBA's Director of Scouting and his son Ryan, NBA Assistant Director of Scouting, will once again serve as analysts.
The Bakersfield Jam, members of the NBA D-League, play their home games at Rabobank Arena and offer the Bakersfield community a top-tier professional sports team at affordable prices.
