Detroit shocked by Chicago Storm, 15-7

(Plymouth, Mich., - February 20, 2009) - Reeling from injuries and playing their third game in five days, the Detroit Ignition (7-4) had their 15-game home winning streak snapped by the Chicago Storm (4-8), 15-7 tonight. Detroit remains in a first-place tie with the Milwaukee Wave, who face the Storm on Sunday.

The Ignition put up a 4-0 lead in the first quarter with goals from Miki Djerisilo and Zach Wilkes, but the Storm went on a six-goal run that went unanswered by Detroit until the fourth quarter. Ryan Mack scored a three-pointer for the Ignition with just over a minute to play, but the Storm's Ian Bennett completed a hat trick with a three-pointer of his own at 14:48 that brought the final tally to 15-7.

The Ignition will return to action next Saturday, February 28 to take on the New Jersey Ironmen (5-7).

The Detroit Ignition is a charter member of the Xtreme Soccer League, and begins the team's third season in December 2008 after completing the 2007-08 season as regular-season champions of the Major Indoor Soccer League.
