Detroit Shock News Release

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. - The Detroit Shock will suit up and go to work July 14, but they won't need to have their ankles taped and they will leave their uniforms in the locker room.

Instead, the Shock will don aprons and take orders at Mountain Jacks Restaurant in Auburn Hills from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. for the Seventh Annual "Tip-A-Shock" charity promotion. All proceeds from the night will benefit the American Diabetes Association. Mountain Jacks Restaurant is located at 1451 Opdyke Road, two miles south of The Palace at the corner of University Drive.

Players and coaches will serve, host and bartend for the entire duration of the event. All tips from the team's effort will go to the American Diabetes Association.

"The Tip-A-Shock event is one of our most popular and important charity promotions we have all year," said Alicia Jeffreys, director of business operations and brand management for the Shock. "We are not only able to raise a substantial amount of money for a worthy charity, but fans are able to interact with the entire team on a level that is very personal and fun. This is the first time we have done Tip-A-Shock at Mountain Jacks, and we are very pleased to have them on board this year."

Fans will not only enjoy being served by their favorite Shock players and coaches, but will love the activities that follow their meals. Prizes will be given away throughout the evening and autograph and picture sessions will be available as well. Last year's Tip-A-Shock event was able to donate more than $4,000 to the Michigan Chapter of the March of Dimes.

About the American Diabetes Association: Founded in 1940, the American Diabetes Association conducts programs in all 50 states and the District of Columbia, reaching hundreds of communities. The mission of the Association is to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes.
