Detroit Fury Trade for WR/LB Thabiti Davis

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. -The Detroit Fury of the Arena Football League have acquired WR/LB Thabiti Davis through a trade with the Orlando Predators for future considerations. With the addition of Davis, the Fury have set their 24-man roster for Week One of the 2004 AFL season. The Fury released Jose Cortez (K), Kelly Snell (DS) to make room for Davis, and placed Reggie Waddell (WR/DB) on the injured reserve list on Saturday.

Davis, 6'3" 215 lbs, played his rookie season with the Orlando Predators, where he had an immediate impact. In 16 games, Davis caught 63 passes for 759 yards and 13 touchdowns. He also ran for three touchdowns and finished third on the Predators' roster in all all-purpose yardage (828 yards). Defensively, Davis recorded 22.5 total tackles and also had an interception and a fumble recovery.

In the 2003 postseason, Davis also played an important role for the Predators. Davis caught eight receptions for 106 yards and three touchdowns and made 5.5 tackles on defense in two playoff games.

"Davis had an outstanding rookie season with Orlando and established himself as one of the league's best receivers," said Fury Head Coach Tom Luginbill. "He is a big, physical receiver, and he will strengthen our team on both sides of the ball. Davis is exactly the kind of player we are looking for, and he has a great future ahead of him in the AFL."

The Fury have finalized their roster for Week One of the AFL season. The Fury released kicker Jose Cortez and placed WR/DB Reggie Waddell on the injured reserve list Saturday, and in order to make room for Davis, the Fury released DS Kelly Snell Monday.
