Detroit City FC Looking for W League Bounce Back on the Road to Cleveland Wednesday Night
June 14, 2023 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Detroit City FC News Release
Detroit, Michigan - Following a tough 2-0 loss to Midwest United FC on Friday evening, Detroit City FC is back on the road for a USL W League match against Cleveland Force SC on Wednesday evening with kickoff scheduled for 7 PM. The match will be streamed on Eleven Sports.
Detroit City FC was up against it early on Friday evening, conceding a goal within five minutes to Midwest United's Elle Otto. She was played through on goal and placed a shot to the left of the onrushing Schriver to give MUFC an early lead. Le Rouge would fight hard to find an equalizer but found themselves unable to break through the MUFC midfield and backline, allowing the visitors to control most of the match.
Things would get worse in the second half of play for Le Rouge as they chased an equalizer, hope would fade when an unfortunate own goal put the score at 2-0 for MUFC.
Detroit City FC has already played away to Cleveland once this season, picking up their first win of the year with a 2-0 victory on 5/24. Since then, Le Rouge has a record of 1-0-3, including a massive 4-1 result over AFC Ann Arbor on 6/3.
Cleveland Force SC currently sits at the bottom of the Great Lakes Conference and has failed to pick up a single point this season with a record of 0-0-7 and isn't doing too much better in goal differential which currently sits at -9 thanks to five goals scored but 14 goals conceded.
Following Detroit City FC's midweek matchup, they will host the Great Lakes table-topping Flint City AFC at Keyworth Stadium on Saturday, June 17 for their third meeting of the season. Tickets are still available and can be found here.
