Bismarck Larks News Release
Outfielder Dylan Perry is embracing the underdog mentality during his time with the Larks.
Dylan finished his first season at Kaskaskia College where he drove in 11 runs on 21 hits and came around to score 11 times.
After signing a temporary contract at the beginning of the season, Dylan has signed a deal for the remainder of the season. Nonetheless, Dylan is looking to earn his place on the Larks.
"I didn't have many opportunities coming out of my first year in college and when I got the call from Coach [Will] Flynt there was no way I was passing it up. I love this game, and all I want to do is play," Dylan said. The Naples, Florida native is certainly far from home, but it's nothing that he's not used to.
"I was always moving around growing up," Dylan said. "My family and I moved eight times, and I loved experiencing new places. I'm used to being away from home going to school at Kaskaskia College in Illinois. I also love to travel and I hope I get the opportunity to move around when I'm older."
Dylan has already started nine games and been on base 16 times in 32 official at-bats (as of June 24). He has seven hits, nine walks, and an on-base percentage (OBP) of .390. In the field, Dylan primarily plays left field where he has made 22 plays and four diving catches this year.
Dylan has a true old-school mentality when it comes to baseball. That being said, Dylan isn't playing just because of his love for the game. Dylan considers himself a man of faith and never takes an opportunity for granted. In fact, he even performs a small tribute before every at-bat.
"I'm very invested in my faith," Dylan said. "I try to use my platform to spread God's word. Before every at-bat, I carve a cross into the dirt behind home plate and thank God for giving me the opportunity to play the game that I love."
