COLUMBUS, Ohio - The 2007 National Conference champion Columbus Destroyers signed free agent fullback Harold Wells, offensive lineman Jason Hilliard, defensive back Ukee Dozier and defensive lineman Prentice Purnell, Head Coach Doug Kay announced today. As is club policy, terms of the contracts were not disclosed.

Wells (6-0, 270, Gardner Webb) is the franchise's all-time leading rusher with 114 attempts for 331 yards and 20 touchdowns. He will be entering his third season with the Destroyers in 2008 after being named to the 2007 AFL All-Ironman team. He led the Destroyers in rushing and set career-highs with 197 yards on 73 attempts and 13 touchdowns and was instrumental on goal-line defense with 19.5 tackles (17UT-5AT), one fumble recovery and two tackles for a loss.

The former Golden Gopher accumulated 191 tackles, four interceptions and 31 pass breakups in his four years (2001-04) at Minnesota.

Purnell (6-3, 320, West Georgia) will play in his third season in the League in 2008. He appeared in two contests in 2007 with the Georgia Force and recorded 4.5 tackles (3UT-3AT) and one pass defended.
