
Despite Fast Start, Ironmen Fall

Lorain County Ironmen News Release
(Beckley, WV)- The Lorain County Ironmen came out and jumped on West Virginia starter Hank Williams Jr., scoring 2 runs in the 1st inning and 3 in the 3rd inning. However, it wasn't enough as the Ironmen drop the first of 4 games in West Virginia, 10-7.
The Prospect League's best offense scored 7 runs on 7 hits. Jeff Cola continued his hot streak in leading the offense with a 2-3 performance. He doubled and drove in 5 runs. Sam Alvis also doubled for the Ironmen.
Ben Bokor made his first start of the season. Bokor went 4 innings allowing 6 runs, all earned and taking his first loss of the season. Michael Clarke followed on the mound and pitched 1.2 innings. He allowed 4 runs, all earned. Dan Poskocil and Spencer Bryant also came in relief.
The Miners scored their 10 runs on only 8 hits. They were aided by 8 Ironmen walks and 4 hit by pitches.
The Ironmen and Miners are at it again Friday night at 7:05 from Epling Stadium in Beckley, WV.
