Danville Dans News Release

(DANVILLE, IL) - Nick Rumbelow had an almost great outing for the Danville Dans in his last start in June 22. He struck out 14, including striking out the side in both the 2nd and 3rd innings. He also had no walks and allowed just six hits. Unfortunately, the three runs scored on him (two earned) was one too many as the Dans lost to the Hannibal Cavemen 3-2 in Prospect League action.

          The sophomore-to-be from Louisiana State was going for his third win in as many starts.  He's tied with five others for second in the league at 25 strikeouts. But Rumbelow has done it in just 19.2 innings.

          "You can't fault the effort of Nick,'' for the loss, noted Danville manager Mike Hutcheon.  "Hannibal had a lot of infield hits. They were battling, putting the ball in play, but we couldn't make enough 160;

          Through his three starts, the righty has a 1.37 ERA, giving up just three runs on 12 hits - only two of them for extra bases. He's also allowed just five walks.

          One of the two Dans runs came in the fifths on a solo homer by Mississippi's Austin Sullivan. Arkansas State's Zach Maggio had an RBI hit in the sixth for the other Dans run.

          The Dans play a double-header in DeKalb County Thursday before returning to Danville Stadium for a two-game series against the Springfield Sliders Friday and Saturday.

          The Danville Dans play in the Prospect League, a wooden bat summer college league. For more information about the Danville Dans, visit our website, www.DanvilleDans.com.
