Dallas Desperados News Release
After WR/LB Jake Hoffart strained his hamstring in practice June 26, the Dallas Desperados signed WR/DB Danny Thomas, who was waived from their practice squad June 25. To make room on the active roster, Hoffart was placed on Reserve/Injured.
Thomas, who spent the first 10 weeks of the season on Dallas' practice squad, left the squad Tuesday afternoon but was called back when Hoffart suffered his injury. Thomas played in two games for the New Jersey Gladiators in 2001, totaling three tackles and one reception for seven yards. His knowledge of the Desperados offense and defense will allow him to immediately step in and contribute.
Hoffart had played in all 10 Desperados games and was fourth on the team with 32 catches for 353 yards and six touchdowns while registering 11.5 tackles, an interception, a pass defensed and a fumble recovery. He suffered his hamstring injury while running pass routes during practice in preparations for Saturday's game against the San Jose SaberCats.
