Cobras Make Roster Moves in Preparation for Orlando

RALEIGH, N.C. (June 27, 2002)- The Carolina Cobras made four roster moves as they prepare for a Southern Division match-up with the Orlando Predators (4-6) Friday night at the Entertainment and Sports Arena. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. (ET).
Carolina (4-6) signed kicker Pete Elezovic (5-10, 180, Michigan), a four-year AFL veteran who has spent time with the Albany Firebirds (1996-98), Buffalo Destroyers (2001) and Chicago Rush (2001). Elezovic will handle all kicking duties this week while Brian Schmitz (6-1, 175, North Carolina) recovers from a leg injury suffered a few weeks back.
Elezovic began his AFL career with the Albany Firebirds in 1996, where he was named Kicker of the Year and a second-team All-Arena member. That season the former Michigan Wolverine converted 57.5% of his field goals (19 of 33) and 98 of 110 extra points (89.1%), while scoring a career-high 155 points. For his career, Elezovic has converted 45.1% of his field goals (51 of 113) and 87.5% of his extra points (258 of 295), while recording 411 career points (No. 11 all-time in the AFL for kickers). Last season, Elezovic began the season with the Buffalo Destroyers before being claimed off waivers by the Chicago Rush May 2.
In other roster moves, the Cobras activated WR/LB Rj Anderson (6-2, 190, South Florida) from injured reserve and placed WR/LB Jamaal Garman (6-3, 210, Fort Valley State) on injured reserve. To make room for Elezovic, Carolina waived WR/DB Rico Clark (5-10, 180, Louisville).
Anderson, in his second season, saw action in two games this season for the Cobras (2 receptions for 18 yards) before being placed on injured reserve May 24. Garman, who has 13 receptions for 161 yards and 4 TDs, will miss at least the next two games. Clark, who was acquired in a trade with the Dallas Desperados on May 28 for FB/LB Jeremy Beutler, was inactive for the past three games.
