Hamilton, Ontario - The Hamilton Bulldogs defeated the Lake Erie Monsters 1-0 at Copps Coliseum on Tuesday night during their annual Toy Toss game. Steve Quailer scored the Toy Toss tally which was also the winner, while Cedrick Desjardins stopped 29 shots for his second shutout of the season.
After a scoreless first period, the Bulldogs led the Monsters 11-6 in shots on goal as the 'Dogs did not surrender a shot until the 12:31 mark of the opening frame.
The second stanza was also scoreless with Hamilton posting 17 shots and Lake Erie registering 16 for a 28-22 Bulldogs lead after 40 minutes of play.
Quailer opened the scoring with the Toy Toss tally at 16:17 of the third period on the power-play. Quailer dangled into the Monsters zone and cut in from the right wing boards while falling and tapped the puck in on the open side past Lake Erie Monsters starting goaltender Calvin Pickard.
Desjardins picked up his fifth win and second shutout in his seventh game of the season by stopping all 29 Lake Erie shots. The Bulldogs outshot the Monsters 45-29.
The Bulldogs' next game is against the Wolves in Chicago on Thursday, December 13th at 8:00 p.m. The game will air on TVA Sports.
