SANDY, Utah - - Utah Royals FC MF Desiree Scott has been named to the Canadian Women's National Team roster by Head Coach Kenneth Heiner-Møller for the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup in France.

Scott joins Canada's World Cup squad after spending the last three weeks in training camp. The team from up North defeated Mexico 3-0 on Saturday, May 18 in Toronto, a match that served as the final send-off before taking flight across the Atlantic Ocean for France. The Royals FC midfielder played the entire 90 minutes for Canada.

"Congratulations to Diana," Utah Royals FC General Manager Stephanie Lee said. "It's an incredible honor for her to represent Canada in the World Cup, and well deserved."

Canada will begin their campaign for the World Cup as part of Group E in Montpellier against Cameroon on Monday, June 10. The team will then travel to Grenoble to take on fellow Royals FC teammate DF Katie Bowen and New Zealand on Saturday, June 15. Canada will finish up the group stage on Thursday, June 20 against Netherlands in Reims.

"I am beyond honoured to be a part of such a special group heading to represent Canada on the world's biggest stage!" Scott said. "This is my third World Cup and each time I get selected it still seems so surreal. To be still doing what I love after all these years is amazing and I hope to make all the people who have helped me on my journey, my family, my city and my country proud! GO CANADA!"

The call-up will mark the third time appearing in the tournament for Scott. Since her debut for the full team in 2010 Scott has made 143 appearances, 101 of them starts and has recorded two assists.

Fellow Canadian and Royals FC teammate MF Diana Matheson will miss the tournament due to an injury sustained while with the national team.
