Grand Rapids Griffins News Release

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Fans of the Grand Rapids Griffins have always worn their hearts on their sleeves. In return, the team's players may wear one fan's design on their chests for select games during the 2009-10 season.

Several times each season, the Griffins don themed "third jerseys" that are signed by the players and auctioned off to benefit the Griffins Youth Foundation and other local charities. Now, the Griffins are giving fans the chance to have their talent displayed by future Detroit Red Wings in front of thousands at Van Andel Arena.

Fans with graphic design skills and a knack for creativity are encouraged to submit their design for the Griffins' next themed jersey through a link at griffinshockey.com. Deadline for entries is July 1.

All designs will be presented to Griffins ownership and game operations staff, who may submit one for approval by Reebok and the American Hockey League. The fan whose design is ultimately used will receive a Griffins prize pack plus in-game recognition for their creation.
