
Quintin Laing's Hershey Bears Win Calder Cup

NORFOLK, Va. - One of the hardest-working Admirals of all time is now a champion, as Quintin Laing's Hershey Bears were crowned the American Hockey League's Calder Cup Champions on Friday night.
Laing, 29, is a 6-foot-2, 200-pound left wing from Harris, Saskatchewan. He lifted the Calder Cup on Friday night in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada as a member of the Hershey Bears, who defeated the Manitoba Moose in the Calder Cup Finals four games to two.
Laing's first 357 career AHL games came as an Admiral from 2000-01 to 2005-06. He scored 47 goals and 82 assists for 129 points in those games. Laing ranks second in games, eighth in goals, fourth in assists, seventh in points, fifth in plus/minus (+19), 11th in penalty minutes (273), second in shorthanded goals (7), fifth in game-winning goals (10) and fourth in shots (628) in Norfolk Admirals (AHL) history.
Laing, who recently recovered from a spleen injury, appeared in nine post-season games with the Bears, scoring two goals and two assists. He appeared in 55 regular season games with Hershey in 2008-09, scoring nine goals and 16 assists. He also skated in one game with the NHL's Washington Capitals this season.
Laing becomes the 25th former Admirals player to win the Calder Cup.
Hershey Head Coach Bob Woods is also a former Admiral, appearing in 69 combined regular season and playoff games with the 1995-96 Hampton Roads Admirals. Woods, a defenseman, registered four goals and 28 assists with 123 penalty minutes in those contests.
