LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Las Vegas Desert Dogs first-year standout Jack Hannah was named a finalist for the National Lacrosse League's Rookie of the Year Award in a release made by the league offices today. Hannah, along with Jonathan Donville (Panther City) and Brett Dobson (Georgia) are up for the award which will announce the winner the week of May 22. Additionally, Desert Dogs CEO Mark Fine was named a finalist for the NLL's Executive of the Year honor.
Hannah recently completed a sensational first season in the NLL, in which he led all rookies in goals scored (33), while finishing second in points (64) and assists (31). Hannah was twice named the NLL Rookie of the Week during the 2022-23 season and finished with nine multi-goal games and 13 multi-point games.
The Milford, Ohio native was one of five Desert Dogs players to play in all 18 games this season, which included a season-high eight points on February 4 in Las Vegas's win over the Colorado Mammoth. His sock trick recorded that night was the first-ever in franchise history and set the Desert Dogs record for goals in a game.
"I'm extremely excited to see Jack recognized as a finalist for this honor," said Desert Dogs Head Coach and General Manager Shawn Williams. "Jack had a tremendous year and was an integral part of our offense. His upside and future are exceptionally bright and I can't wait to watch him grow."
Fine is one of three finalists for the prestigious Executive of the Year Award, bestowed to the team executive who demonstrated excellence and exemplary work throughout the year.
As CEO, Fine has been instrumental in laying the foundation for long-term success for the Desert Dogs since the announcement of the franchise two years ago. Fine's tireless efforts helped place the Desert Dogs fourth in the NLL in overall ticket sales revenue with over 2,000 season tickets sold, while averaging nearly 6,000 fans per game in overall attendance in its inaugural season.
Among Fine's achievements this season has been his commitment to introducing the game of lacrosse to Southern Nevada spearheading several community initiatives. In his charge, the team and its ownership group have directed the donation of equipment, gear, and goals to local schools and organizations, while also introducing "The Creator's Game" to diverse audiences throughout Las Vegas.
"I'm humbled to be nominated as a finalist for this incredible honor," said Fine. "This is a reflection of our entire front office and ownership group in Las Vegas and the hard work and dedication they put forth throughout our inaugural season."
