Las Vegas Desert Dogs News Release

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The San Diego Seals used a five-goal run between the third and fourth quarter as the Desert Dogs eventually fell, 15-12, in the inaugural Stadium Showdown outdoor game Saturday at Snapdragon Stadium.

The outdoor game was the first-ever in the history of the National Lacrosse League, played in front of a crowd of 8,443.

The Seals, the top team in the west conference, improve to 7-2 with the victory, while the loss snaps a three-game win streak for the Desert Dogs, who fall to 4-6.

It was a game of runs early, as the Dog started things off with back-to-back goals from Jon Phillips and Reid Reinholdt before the Seals responded with a four-goal tear. Las Vegas would tack on two additional goals to tie the game at four at the end of the first quarter.

San Diego retook control towards the end of the second quarter, before a Jack Hannah strike brought the Dogs within one at halftime.

Vegas came out of the break firing, scoring three of the third quarter's first four goals to take a 10-9 lead with under four minutes to play in the quarter. It was then the Seals made their move, quickly tying the game at 10-10 before eventually building up a 14-10 lead well into the fourth quarter.

The Desert Dogs will look to bounce back next week the team hosts the Vancouver Warriors on Saturday, March 11 at Michelob ULTRA Arena. The game will serve as the rubber match between the two franchises this season, with the Warriors capturing the first win in the series 19-16 on January 14 before the Dogs won the rematch 15-14 on January 20.

Faceoff is slated for 7:30 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on MyLVTV and ESPN+.
