Desert Dogs Drop Inaugural Game at Panther City, 11-13

FORT WORTH, TEXAS - Four different Dessert Dogs players recroded four-point outings, but it wasn't enough as Las Vegas fell in its inaugural game, 13-11, Friday night at Panther City.

Will Malcolm led the way with for Panther City Lacrosse Club with four goals and three assists while Phil Caputo tallied three goals and four assists for the hosts.

John Phillips (2A, 2A), John Wagner (2G, 2A), Rob Hellyer (1G, 3A) and Jacob Ruest (1A, 3A) all tied for the team lead with four points, showcasing Las Vegas' balances lineup. Ruest finished with a game-high 14 loose balls.

Wagner had the honors for the Dogs' first goal in franchise history, scoring 22 seconds into the game to give the visitors an early lead. Panther City battled back to take a 4-3 edge at the end of the first quarter. After going down 6-3, the Dogs rallied to tie the game at six with back-to-back goals from rookie Jack Hannah and Sam Firth. The teams headed into the locker room knotted at seven.

The third quarter proved to be decisive as Panther City outscored Vegas 6-2. The Dogs kept it interesting in the fourth, scoring two goals while goalie Landon Kells made 12 saves and allowed none in relief.

Las Vegas and Panther City will meet for a rematch next weekend when the Desert Dogs return home on December 16 for the franchise's Inaugural Home Opener at Michelob ULTRA Arena.
