Lincoln Capitols News Release
Lincoln, NE - - The Capitols coaching staff was in a very good mood going into this week. A nice little group of very talented gentlemen were joining the team to help patch up areas in need and also to strengthen other positions on the team. No player opened eyes more than former University of Nebraska and New Orleans Saint running back Derek Brown. Derek who is active in the Lincoln community decided he wanted to play a little football and see if he could help the hometown Capitols in the process.
Derek played I-Back for Nebraska (1990-1992) earning all-conference honors, running for over 1,000 yard in each of both his Sophomore and Junior seasons. After his Junior season, spent as part of the "we-backs" with Calvin Jones, Derek decided to move on to the NFL. Drafted in the 4th round by the New Orleans Saints, Brown started with a bang as the Saints leading rusher in his rookie year as he remained a Saint for 5 years.
The Capitols will play host the Atlantic East Division Leading River City Rage Friday night at the Pershing Center with kickoff set for 7 PM. Come on out and see Derek Brown and the Rest of the Capitols players this Friday night and then after the game come down to the field and meet the players.
For ticket information call the Lincoln Capitols office at 402-477-8888 Or ticketmaster charge by phone â 475-1212.
