ST. PAUL, MN - Dereck Rodríguez dominated the Omaha Storm Chasers over 6.0 innings. His great pitching performance earned him the International League Pitcher of the Week for the week of August 1-7 as announced by Major League Baseball today.
On Thursday, August 5 Rodríguez got the start against the Storm Chasers. He gave up a pair of singles in the first inning and a one out single in the second. Following that base hit, he proceeded to retire the final 14 batters he faced as he tossed 6.0 shutout innings allowing three hits while walking four. They carried a shutout into the eighth inning and won 15-6 as Rodríguez tossed just the seventh quality start for the Saints this season.
On the season, Rodríguez is 6-3 with a 4.28 ERA in 16 games (10 starts). In 67.1 innings pitched he has walked just 18 and struck out 67 while opponents are hitting .246 against him.
