Denver Outlaws News Release
CHARLOTTE - The Denver Outlaws (5-1) dropped an 18-15 decision to the Charlotte Hounds (2-4) Saturday night on the road. Charlotte snapped Denver's 25-game regular-season win streak, which dated back to June 23, 2012 and spanned 714 days.
The game was a back-and-forth thriller and the two teams were tied a total of six times the entire night. The Hounds scored first and took a 3-1 lead into the second quarter, but Denver answered with a seven-goal second quarter, including a two-pointer on a power play by Jeremy Sieverts. Sieverts leads the MLL in two-point goals this season with four, and ranks first in Outlaws history with 17 career two-pointers.
Charlotte took a 9-8 lead into halftime, but the teams traded leads and were tied three times in the third quarter, and headed into the fourth quarter all tied up at 12-12. Three different Denver players-Curtis Dickson, Jeremy Sieverts, and Drew Snider-recorded hat tricks, but Charlotte's six-goal fourth quarter would prove to be too much for the Outlaws.
Dickson scored his fourth goal of the night in his first game with the Outlaws to give Denver a 13-12 lead 27 seconds into the fourth quarter before Charlotte responded by scoring two goals in less than a minute. Domenic Sebastiani scored his second goal of the season to cut the Charlotte lead to 17-15 with two minutes left in the game, but John Haus secured the victory for the Hounds with his third goal of the night, giving the Hounds an 18-15 lead with just 17 seconds left in the game.
Backup goalie Charlie Cipriano got the start for the Outlaws, the first of his three-year MLL career. Cipriano had 13 saves on 30 shots (.433) in the loss. His 13 saves and 60 minutes in goal were career-highs for the goalie.
The Outlaws return to action at home Saturday, June 14 at 7 p.m. MDT when they host the New York Lizards for Film on the Field featuring The Amazing Spiderman.
