Dennis Earns Second Team of the Week Spot

ST. PETERSBURG, FL - On Tuesday, the USL Championship announced the Team of the Week for Week 8 of the 2023 season, with the Tampa Bay Rowdies' Charlie Dennis among those earning a spot on the list of honorees. Dennis recorded Tampa Bay's game-winning goal from the penalty spot in the 1-0 win over Detroit City FC.
Rowdies center back Forrest Lasso also earned a spot on the bench of the USL Championship Team of the Week. The victory in Detroit was Lasso's 150th USL Championship regular-season appearance and the first clean sheet the Rowdies have secured with him starting on the back line this year.
Against Detroit, Dennis was the catalyst for many of Tampa Bay's scoring opportunities. Dennis recorded seven chances in the match while also completing 31 of his 39 pass attempts. This is the second Team of the Week selection this year for Dennis, who is in his first season with Tampa Bay. The Englishman also earned Team of the Week honors for his performance in Tampa Bay's 1-1 draw at Orange County SC in Week 2 of the campaign.
"The last two performances have really been what we expected from (Charlie)," said Rowdies Head Coach Neill Collins. "His work rate was fantastic, but his quality as well. Him and (JJ Williams) worked really well together. I'm pleased he got the goal his performance deserved. If he keeps up that intensity he's got the quality to produce some great moments."
The Rowdies return to Al Lang Stadium this Saturday night to host Western Conference side Phoenix Rising FC. Tickets for the match can be purchased here or by calling the Rowdies sales office during normal business hours at 727-222-2000.
