
Denilson Velasquez and Derek Lozano Sign to Academy Roster

New Mexico United and the Somos Unidos Foundation are thrilled to announce the signing of Denilson Velasquez and Derek Lozano to the New Mexico United Academy roster. The two players have already begun training with their academy teammates, and are eligible to participate in matches immediately.
"Denison and Derek are already making a big difference on and off the pitch for our club," said New Mexico United Academy Head Coach Luke Sanford. "We're excited to see what these two, and our entire new class of Academy players bring to the table, and can't wait to bring the best out of them, as well."
Velasquez is an Albuquerque-native who played his high school soccer at Worthington Kilbourne High School. The midfielder's favorite players are Ronaldinho and Lionel Messi. His favorite club is Arsenal, and when he grows up he wants to be a professional soccer player. His favorite soccer memory is playing in the Generation Adidas Cup.
Lozano is a seventeen year old winger from Santa Fe. He played high school soccer at NM Connections Academy. His favorite player is Cristiano Ronaldo, and his favorite club is Real Madrid. When he grows up, Derek hopes to be a pro soccer player.
