Camden Riversharks News Release
Camden, NJ-Sunday's game was a close one, as Camden fell behind early and attempted a huge comeback in the later innings. Unfortunately the late push was not enough to give the 'Sharks the win, as they fell 10-7 to the Lancaster Barnstormers.
Lancaster started the scoring early as third baseman Jose Ortiz blasted a solo shot followed by an RBI double from right field Eric Crozier.
They continued scoring in the second when second baseman Travis Hake hit a two-RBI single scoring left fielder Steve Van Note and catcher Lance Burkhart.
Then in the third Lancaster first baseman Keith Maxwell sent one over the fence making it 5-0 Barnstormers.
Designated hitter Reggie Taylor helped his team's cause in the fourth, hitting an RBI single scoring shortstop Kris Dufner. In the fifth Burkhart blasted a three- run shot giving his team a 10-0 lead over Camden.
The 'Sharks countered in the bottom of the fifth as third baseman Brad Strauss hit a two-RBI double and later tagged home to get his team within seven.
Camden designated hitter Matt Demarco continued the rally push in the seventh with a two-run shot making the score 10-5 Lancaster.
Demarco attacked again this time in the eighth, with a two-RBI single scoring Strauss and left fielder Denny Abreu. Putting his team within three, which was not enough to get the 'Sharks the win.
